Pinnacle Keel Slab
Since casinos built in St. Louis must “float” on water in order to comply with Gaming Commission laws, the Pinnacle Casino is built on a floating concrete barge. The keel slab (bottom of the barge) was placed in early August
2007. It took approximately 70,000-square-feet (1700-cubic-yards) of lightweight concrete 8-inches thick to complete the slab. This is one of the largest lightweight post-tensioned concrete placements ever placed monolithically. View Project Photos |
Picardy Interchange I-10
Baton Rouge, LA
Gravelite was used for backfill material between
segmental retaining walls constructed for frontage roads and
bridge approach embankments.
Ordinary fill (sand) was used for portions of the
embankments where the walls were less than 20 feet tall.
For portions of the wall exceeding 20 feet in height,
Gravelite was used to reduce soil pressures and subsequent
settlement of the underlying soils.
